Miss Linares

I am from the beautiful city of Caracas-Venezuela. I have lived in Phoenix, Arizona since 2000. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Tourism in 1998 (Business Administration) and my Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification at Scottsdale Community College in 2006. I worked as a volunteer at Desert Canyon Elementary School, various schools in the Scottsdale district and at Gateway Elementary School (Creighton District). I taught 7 wonderful years at Mission Charter School, Inc. grades 3-8. This is my nineth year teaching second grade at Desert Willow.

I am very excited to teach in my native language, and to be part of your child's growth and development. I am eager to see their continuous acquisition of a new language, this is a wonderful opportunity for your child to learn a very important skill that will last a lifetime.

When I think about why I became a teacher, I come up with many reasons, but the most compelling reason to become a teacher is the desire to work with children. I am constantly thinking of ways how to improve things and how to help children.
My family is an essential part of my life. My son, Victor Samuel is pursuing a medical studies degree from ASU. He wants to be a cardiologist. My husband, Victor José is a pilot; he works for Korean Air as a captain of Boeing-747. I have two sisters, three nieces, two nephews and my mom. I have a sea turtle called Leonardo. I enjoy spending time with my son, husband, family and friends.

My hobbies are hiking, dancing, cooking, reading poetry, traveling, collecting money around the world and figures of the moon and sun.

Also, I love Zumba, and I am a Zumba instructor.

Muchas gracias ;-)

¡Venezuela te llevo en mi corazón, te amo!

    Educational Philosophy

I believe that education is essential to the survival of our societies. Teaching is a very important profession and vital to all people. As an educator, I feel honored to assume a part of this process. I believe that I have the opportunity to influence the life of my students. Therefore, I commit to create an environment of trust and develop lessons that motivate students and their desire for lifelong learning. I am committed to be a good role model to my students, to reinforce positive behavior, encourage positive attitudes toward learning, and provide plenty opportunities to learn and to have fun together.

The students should be actively involved in the learning process, which should be interactive and instructional. Students must be allowed to explore and practice independent thinking and application skills.

Teacher should be facilitators whom help the students become independent thinkers and learners. Teachers should always explore new ways to engage the students in their learning. Teachers should be innovative and reflective about their students' needs. Teachers must be flexible, dynamic, patient, understanding and they must prepare their students for the real world.
