Degrees and Certifications:
I have been a part of CCUSD since 1998. I started as an aide for the 1st-3rd Multi-age class, as well as the Music instructor for the Special Needs Children, both at BMES. I began my full time Music position at DSA in 1999 and worked through 2018. In 2014, I started teaching guitar at STMS as well. For two years, my job brought me to splitting my teaching between DSA and BMES. For the 2018-2019 school year I will be full time at BMES. I love teaching music to all ages. It's so rewarding when I see that love of music come through my students on a daily basis.
Prior to teaching in Arizona, I taught 6 years in Indiana. I took off several years to raise my three daughters then moved to Illinois and subbed for two years. While living in the midwest, I was Music Minister at two Parishes for four years, playing the piano/organ and directing both the Adult and Children's Choirs. After moving to Arizona, I took on the job as the Children's Choir Director at Our Lady of Joy for five years.
When I'm not teaching you can find me on a mountain, somewhere, hiking away. Two of my favorite places to visit are the Grand Canyon and Colorado. I can't get enough of the peacefulness and beauty of both places. When I'm not hiking, I love spending time with my family, singing, playing the piano or guitar or cooking. It's not often that I take time to relax but when I do, I love watching a movie with a big bowl of popcorn or listening to Country or Christian music while reading a magazine.
I graduated from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois with a degree in Music Education, Choral/Vocal/General K -12. I also carry a standard 6 -12 Secondary Ed. Degree and an SEI pre-K -12 endorsement.
I look forward to teaching your child music this next year and hope to share my love of music with them in as many ways as I can.
