Early Entrance

  • The Cave Creek Unified School District Kindergarten Entrance Policy states that children may attend kindergarten if they are 5 before September 1 of that school year. This policy does allow for exceptions to be made for children that turn 5 between September 1 and December 31 if they successfully pass the Early Entrance screening.

The screening is used to measure skills in areas of development that will most likely assure a successful and satisfactory kindergarten experience. These areas include: fine motor skills, gross motor skills, color recognition, rote counting and identifying letters.

If you are interested in having your child participate in the Early Entrance Assessment for the 2019-2020 school year, please fill out an Early Entrance Assessment Application and return with your $50 non-refundable fee to the CCUSD District Office, Attn: Tina Hasher.  If you have additional questions, contact Tina Hasher at 480.575.2042 or chasher@ccusd93.org.

The Early Entrance Screening will be offered twice during the summer: June 4th - June 6th and July 9th - July 11th.  Testing will be done at the District Office, Conference Room B.  We do not offer any late assessments in August.

An informational parent meeting is held each April at the District Office regarding early entrance for the following school year. This year the meeting is on Tuesday, April 23rd 5 -6 PM at the Governing Board room located at the District Office.

Each School also hosts a Kindergarten Round-Up Day in January or February. This is an excellent opportunity to visit a school site and meet some of our wonderful staff.

The following links will provide information regarding Cave Creek's curriculum according to the Arizona State College and Career Ready Standards. These will include the Kindergarten grade level and may provide helpful information for your future student.
