Welcome Back to Guo laoshi's Chinese class!
Dear Students and Families,
I am so excited to come back to our Chinese class. Different from what we did before, we will have our Chinese class online. Although it might be a challenge for both the students and I, your students will be provided with multiple opportunities to practice their language performance.
Online course work will begin Thurs, April 02.
Online Resources: All course work will be available via my Google Classroom. Since all my students have used this already this year and are fairly proficient with its interface, there are no steps required for students to access or enroll in my Google Classroom.
Weekly Assignments: The Chinese course work will be made available each week on Saturday and will be due by 11:59 PM on Friday. This provides students with six days to complete the weekly work. While the weekly calendar will have a suggested due date, to keep students on track; the assignments will not be officially due until 11:59 PM on Friday. The following day students will have access to the next weekly assignments.
Attendance: In compliance with state guidelines I will need to mark attendance each school day (M-F). Therefore, in addition to the weekly assignments, students will have a Daily Question that they will have to answer by 2:00 PM. The Daily Question will double as an attendance marker that I will use to mark students present or absent, and will only be accessible on scheduled school days. One day of attendance questions will be graded.
What to begin: Students should log into the Google Classroom by Wednesday. A welcome back message will be present. Also, students can view the first week of instructional plans. Much of this instruction is a review to remind students what we were learning prior to the unexpected school shutdowns.
Students who were absent during the last week of instruction (March 9-13) will also be able to make up missed lessons, assignments, and assessments. Please contact the teacher via email in this case.
Communication: I will be available via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. Students and teachers can interact with each other and send messages and work via the Google Classroom. Or students can schedule “Office Hours” for individual needs or more in-depth questions. I am willing and able to provide “Office Hours” on Zoom. Please email me to schedule this.
I look forward to working with you all very soon.
