Welcome to Art

  • Welcome to the Cactus Shadow Art Studio!

    Self Portrait

My name is LISA PAYSEN and I am one of two Art Teachers here at CSHS.

You will be entering a place of discovery, imagination and creativity. We will all be learning together and finding out what makes your artwork unique. Art is communication. Visual art allows individuals to express their ideas, thoughts, feelings, or emotions in a nonverbal manner that is unique to each artist. As an artist myself, I feel that this is my greatest responsibility as an art educator, to lead my students to discover their “visual voice”. To accomplish this is also my greatest challenge. I must be aware of the variety of experiences and the range of artistic abilities students bring to the studio. I love working with young, creative minds and helping students discover their potential as artistic individuals. They inspire me and keep me in the act of constantly creating; from the ideas of the projects themselves to even how the images they create influence my own work. I am enthusiastic and passionate about creating art and find modeling life-long learning to be very effective in my teaching practice.

A little philosophy about why I teach...

Because of Mr. Ed., my high school art teacher.
He opened up the world of art to me.
I teach so that I can encourage young artists the way he did for me and share my love for creating art with others.

**Can you guess my favorite artist??**
