October Employees of the Month

Mrs. April Staley

Classified Employee Coordinator

Human Resources

April has been selected as our #WeAreCCUSD Emlployee of the month because she truly serves CCUSD as a whole. Before moving to Human Resources, she was our Payroll Guru! She efficiently completed tasks correctly and timely with diligence and attention to detail. During the shutdown, April made sure time entered was correct and approved with limited staff available. She was able to foresee challenges and take steps to find solutions. April is an excellent employee and is valued for her contributions to the CCUSD family. During this crazy time she worked to get the information needed from Administrative Assistants, Directors, and others to make sure all employees were properly compensated and their questions were answered. All staff members know they can call April and get the assistance they need. Since moving over to Human Resources, April has quickly picked up her job responsibilities as the classified employee coordinator and has integrated her payroll knowledge to make her even more proficient in this role.  April consistently demonstrates a commendable attitude and work ethic and we are lucky to have her at CCUSD!

Mr. Chris Stahowski

Interm Assistant Principal of Athletics & Operations

Cactus Shadows High School

In light of our current pandemic, Chris (AKA Coach House) has had to do many things that would not be in the typical day as an Athletic Director. He has assembled many plans for the athletic department even with the possibility of athletics not occurring this school year. He adjusts those plans as everything is ever-changing. Chris has come up with plans for each fall sports team and has followed up with the coaches frequently to ensure there is a constant line of communication. He has also been a vital part of our return to school plan. He is always thinking 5 steps ahead to avoid potential issues. He is always available no matter the time of day and he always returns calls and emails quickly and with thoughtfulness. Coach House has even attended practices to make sure the plans are being followed. He has personally hung signs, put down marks for social distancing, and consistently offers to help out when needed. The countless tasks that Chris completes on any given day show us all what a true leader we have and we know we can count on him to show integrity and provide guidance.  We are lucky to have “Coach House” on our team!

The words best used to describe Chris are intelligent, efficient, great character, and dependable.  Coach House truly exemplifies excellence in our schools.  Thank you, Chris, for who you are and all you are doing for students, staff, parents, and the community.

Ms. Kate Warner

Counselor

Desert Sun Academy, Horseshoe Trails Elementary School & Lone Mountain Elementary School

Kate takes her position as an elementary counselor for 3 sites very seriously. Being at 3 sites is challenging, but she manages to reach out to all of the staff, students, and parents letting them know of her availability. She works hard in making sure she is meeting the needs of the social/emotional well-being of her students by offering a variety of support groups. She also offers the same support for the staff at her 3 schools. Kate took the lead in organizing the Second Step Program at her schools and worked with a team in creating a stress and anxiety professional development training for teachers. In spite of her busy schedule, she also took on the supervision of a counselor intern. As a result of the Social/Emotional Well-Being committee that met this summer, Kate researched how to help staff during these stressful times. She implemented “Monday Mindful Moments” and these encouraging words go out to all CCUSD staff every Monday. Kate is the mastermind behind our mindful moments!!

The words best used to describe Kate are flexible, compassionate, and generous.  She truly exemplifies excellence in our schools.  Thank you, Kate, for who you are and all you are doing for students, staff, parents, and the community.
